ABOUT Dr. MASCARO.
Dr. Jimmy R. Mascaro, D.O., is an adult psychiatrist licensed in the states
of New York and Iowa. He is the creator and author of the CUPS diet®
as well as the administrator of the website, www.thecupsdiet.com.
Dr. Mascaro maintains a clinical practice at the Southern Iowa Mental
Health Center in Ottumwa, Iowa, where he provides psychiatric services
for adults. His wife, Dr. Hilda M. Mascaro, M.D., a child and adolescent
psychiatrist licensed in New York and Iowa, provides psychiatric services
for children and Spanish speaking patients. Both utilize on-site and
telepsychiatric care.
After receiving his undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science), with a
major in Psychology from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, he
attended medical school at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa,
where he graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.
His Psychiatric residency was at the University of Iowa Hospitals and
Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Dr. Mascaro has also served as the Medical Director for Adult Psychiatric
Medicine at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, and as an Adjunct Clinical
Instructor of Psychiatry for Des Moines University.
Dr. Mascaro currently resides in New York and routinely returns to his
home state of Iowa. In December, 2003, Dr. Mascaro began developing
an easier and more practical way (using portion control) to achieve and
maintain weight loss. The result was the CUPS diet®.
